THE AI ERA

 INTRODUCTION-

With the continuous changes, the world has kept its step in the era of Artificial Intelligence(AI), bringing it with a wave of technological advancements that have the potential to transform virtually every aspects of our lives.

From health care and transportation to finance and entertainment, AI is revolutionizing industries and reshaping the way we live and work.

So, in this article we'll discuss about all the aspects(both positive as well as negative) of the new gen era i.e. THE AI ERA.

So, lets start this article by discussing about the both positive as well as negative wings and also the ethical considerations of living in the new gen or the AI era.

THE POSITIVE WINGS

  1. The all day availability- The one of the most crucial advantage of the Artificial Intelligence(AI) is its 24x7 service availability, which obviously was not possible before the AI world. Due to technology embedded, the AI has the potential to work continuously for hours without any discomforts. And, this we can easily experience in many national as well as multinational companies that how they are available for providing their services at anytime.
  2. Scalability- AI is not only capable of working continuously, but it also scales almost infinitely. If we take a general example of a sales executive then he/she might be able to extend the services to that same customer after enough interactions, but on the other hand, AI models can do so  for million of customers at the same time. AI similarly demonstrates this scalability in the financial industry, where institutions use technology to instantly verify and validate millions of transactions and monitor for potential fraud everyday. Scaling to such degree is almost impossible with the human beings alone.
  3. Higher the accuracy and lesser the mistakes- AI models are highly capable to a piece of work more accurately and perfectly as compared to human beings. In fact, AI models are also able to do the task million of times with same accuracy and perfection which is not possible for a human being. Obviously for delivering such standard of accuracy and perfection, AI models are build with good algorithms, that are free from incidental bias, and specially monitored to prevent accidents.
  4. Personalized experience- The AI models are well equipped with good algorithms that analyze vast amounts of data to deliver personalized experience and recommendations to users. With the help of algorithms embedded in AI models, individuals are able to get personalized experience each and every time they avail any services provided by the AI models.
  5. Enhanced Safety and Security-
If we talk about the safety and security of the data then there is a possibility that a human being can leak any confidential data but in case of AI models, retrieving confidential data is almost next to impossible. The safety and security standards set in an AI model is beyond the thought of being stolen or hacked. AI- powered surveillance systems and predictive analytics improve safety and security measures, helping to prevent crime and mitigate risks.
THE NEGATIVE WINGS

  1. Lack of Job Security- The transformation of the world from live human beings towards the AI models will definitely lead to job displacements, as the human labor force will get displaced with the AI models because AI models are able to perform the same task with more perfection and accuracy as compared to human beings.
  2. Bias and fairness- AI algorithms can perpetuate and even exacerbate existing biases present in the data used to train them, leading to unfair or discriminatory outcomes.
  3. Ethical Issues-
The rapid growth in the AI industry will also lead to an increase in the ethical issues, and one of the most common ethical problem is the privacy of the consumer's data. As we all know that AI is good at recognizing patterns, therefore it can easily gather data on people even without direct access to personal information.
  4. Non- Economical(involves huge cost)- Developing a model that can work just like humans and can perform the tasks more accurately and perfectly is not a game of normal feat, rather developing these kind of models involve huge costs. It is also a compulsion that AI must be embedded with latest hardware and technology, therefore meeting the upgraded technology will surely incur huge cost.
ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
  • Transparency and Accountability-
Ensuring transparency and accountability in AI systems is essential for building trust and migrating potential harm.

  • Fairness and Bias Mitigation- Efforts must be made to identify and mitigate bias in AI algorithms in order to ensure fair and equitable outcomes for all.

  • Privacy Preservation- Protecting user privacy and data security is paramount in the development and deployment of AI systems.

  • Human Oversight and Control- Maintaining human oversight  and control over AI systems is essential to prevent the delegation of important decisions to machines without appropriate oversight.
CONCLUSION

As we have already kept our steps into the AI era therefore it is essential to know very well about its positive as well as negative sides along with the ethical considerations. By working together to develop and deploy AI technology responsibly, we can harness its transformative potential while minimizing its risks and ensuring a more equitable and just future for all.
This article has explored the crucial advantages of the AI era along with its tremendously harmful disadvantages and the impact of this new gen AI era on the society including the ethical considerations.

THE AILING EARTH

 INTRO

Before starting with this article, I would like to make you all familiar with the word- "Ailing" and with the topic- "The Ailing Earth". So the word "ailing" means unhealthy and the topic "The Ailing Earth" can be best described as our unhealthy and sick planet suffering from lot of diseases causing the end of this planet.

Around 4.54 billion years ago, a beautiful planet was formed which was Earth enabling various species to live on and given a source of life by providing different essential features needed for the survival.

In this article we will not discuss more on the detailed history, but will see the main causes for the depletion of Earth and also discuss about few corrective measures to actually work upon.

For detailed history visit at- https://opengeology.org/historicalgeology/a-brief-history-of-earth/.

REASONS BEHIND DEPLETION:

SO, if we talk about the causes for depletion, then the main reason behind the depletion  of our planet is the day by day increasing population, pollution, deforestation, land degradation, biodiversity loss and  the most crucial is  "unsustainable development" done by the demon people living on Earth. And, they do all these only in order to satisfy their own zeal and needs. Slowly but surely they are continuously exhausting the Earth's natural resources including both renewable as well as non- renewable for doing such the development which ultimately will cause the fatal end of the life on Earth. If we discuss more about unsustainable development then it refers to such development which is currently in progress at the expense of future generation. In layman's language, it can be defined to all such developments which is done by causing harm to the nature and will ultimately result in end of the natural resources and the future generation will not be able to avail the benefits of the natural resources due to their exhaustibility.

The people existing on Earth are the most dangerous creature for Earth as continuously, they are harming the nature either directly or indirectly. Doing development for the satisfaction of needs is not bad but doing that development in unsustainable manner is totally unfair and should not be tolerated.

SOME FACTS AND DATA

reference- THE WORLD COUNTS

Here are the some factual data describing the report on Earth's depletion:

  • According to a study, every year almost 55 billion tons of fossil energy, minerals, metals and bio mass from the Earth is extracted.
  • The Earth has already exhausted almost 80% of the area covering the forests and is in continuation of losing them at a rate of 375km2/day.
  •   A study also shown that 5-10% of tropical species will become extinct every decade.
  • As per a research, every hour almost 1692 acres of productive dry land become deserted.
  • 27% of our coral reefs have been destroyed. If the rate continues, then the remaining 60% will also get exhausted in the next 30 years.
  • We also have a garbage island floating in our ocean, mostly comprised of plastics- the size of India, Europe and Mexico combined more garbage island in the ocean.
  • We are using up 50% more natural resources than our Earth can provide.
HERE ARE THE SOME CHALLENGES TO THE EARTH'S ENVIRONMENT:

  1. Land Degradation
  2. Biodiversity Loss
  3. Deforestation
  4. Water Pollution
  5. Soil Erosion
  6. Air Pollution
PREVENTIVE MEASURES TO REDICATE THE EFFECT

  1. Control on Population- If we keep the population under the control then automatically the Earth's environment can be protected as increasing population is causing an increase in the demand. So if the demand will be less, then the earth's vital resources can be conserved .

  2. Plantation- Continuous plantation will help in decreasing the pollution as the trees are a major source of providing oxygen by absorbing the carbon dioxide. For attaining this, we have to do a promise from ourselves then every week 2 new tress should be planted and if we are destroying a single plant then in return we must plant 2 more.
  3. Control on Pollution- Pollution can be easily controlled by eliminating the use of harmful gases like- Co2, CFCs, etc. Instead, we
must make use of environment friendly substitutes. We should also use cleaner fuels for day to day uses like- substituting petrol and diesels with CNG, substituting polluting cooking gases with LPG, etc.
  4. Become input efficient- Technological progress should be made to become input efficient instead of input consuming. It clearly means, efforts should be made to produce more and more per unit of input. This will surely reduce the exploitation of resources.
  5. Substitute the use of non-renewable resources with renewable ones- As we know very well that non-renewable resources can be exhausted therefore we must develop renewable substitutes, so as to maintain the flow of services over the time.

DRAW TO A CLOSE

We must do each and every development which is sustainable in nature so that the Earth's resources cannot be tired out and the future generation can also be able to take the befits of the natural resources. We have to take care of the Earth in the same way parents take care of their own children. If we'll take care of Earth then surely our Earth will also take care of us.

And to sum up, I would like to urge from each and every people living on Earth they are not capable of taking care of our planet then they kindly don't use the earth's resources mischievously and negligently.

A short phrase for a moral ending- "IF YOU WILL SAVE YOUR PLANET TODAY THEN SURELY THE PLANET WILL ALSO SAVE YOU TOMORROW".

THE UNSOCIAL SOCIAL MEDIA

INTRO

Before starting with this article, I would like to make you all aware about social media. So, social media is a virtual platform on which all the people from across the world get virtually interacted with each other. And, in today's era, it is playing a crucial role in day to day activities of an individual, because only with the help of social media, we came to know about  many personal as well as formal lifestyle of an individual as they all share their lifestyle on social media in the same way as they share with their friends and families

Infract, social media also plays a vital role in improving someone in terms of their professional skills and lifestyles.

THE DARKER WING

As we know very well that a coin has two faces and just like a coin, social media also has two faces. Along with crucial advantages, social media has also some disadvantages too.

If we talk about the negative wing, then day by day social media is playing  a vital role in making our society unsocial. This is because, as we are seeing that the today's world is spending a tremendous part of their lives on social media platforms like- INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK,  TWITTER, etc.

They share everything on social media, what they eat, what they wear, which kind of professions they are engaged in  and which kind of lifestyles they are actually leading. And sharing this much about yourself is tremendously harmful for any individual.

Multiple studies have found a strong link between heavy social media and an increased risk for depression, anxiety, loneliness, self- harm, and even the suiciding attempts.

Social media may promote negative experiences such as:

Inadequacy about your life or appearance-

Fear of missing out (FOMO) and social media addiction- While FOMO has been around far longer than social media, sites such as Facebook and Instagram seem to exacerbate

feelings that others are having more fun or living better lives than you are. The idea that you’re missing out on certain things can impact your self-esteem, trigger anxiety, and fuel even greater social media use, much like an addiction. FOMO can compel you to pick up your phone every few minutes to check for updates, or compulsively respond to each and every alert—even if that means taking risks while you’re driving, missing out on sleep at night, or prioritizing social media interaction over real world relationships.

Isolation- A study at the University of Pennsylvania found that high usage of Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram increases the  feelings of loneliness. Conversely, the study found that reducing social media usage can actually make you feel alone and isolated and improve your overall wellbeing.

Depression and anxiety-  As we all know that, Human beings need face-to-face interaction in order to be psychologically well. Nothing reduces stress and boosts your mood faster or more effectively than eye-to-eye contact with someone who cares about you. The more you prioritize social media interaction over in-person relationships, the more you’re at risk for developing or exacerbating mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

Cyberbullying-  About 10 percent of teens
report being bullied on social media and many other users are subjected to offensive comments. Social media platforms such as Twitter can be hotspots for spreading hurtful rumors, lies, and abuse that can leave lasting emotional scars.

Self-absorption- Sharing endless selfies and all your innermost thoughts on social media can create an unhealthy self-centeredness and distance you from real-life connections.

 WAY TO FAMILY SEPERATION-

While spending that much time on social media, the people are not getting more time to spend with their family. Because, apart from the professional life, the time which is left to spend with family is actually getting exhausted on social media platforms and this is one of the most crucial reason behind increasing distance from the real world and from the loving family.

Before the era of social media, as we herd from our grandparents, they have a house filled with bonding's, joys and love, just because they spent their happy moments of life with their families, but in today's world, this is becoming impossible due to the existence of a devil barrier-"THE SOCIAL MEDIA".

CONCLUSION

At last, I would like to say that spending time on social media is good, but spending a part of life on these platforms is tremendously harmful. If we spend time on social medias only to gather some knowledge then it is good, but if we are using it as a part of our lives, by ignoring our actual life partners which us obviously family and friends, then social media is a haunting monster for us, which will ultimately destroy our existence from the real world.

So be aware of the positive as well as negative wings of social media and use it only for limited time.
